Muslim-Led Aman Committee Supports Hindu Pilgrims on Kanwar Yatra 

The Aman Committee, led by Mohammad Bilal Ansari, has set up a camp on the Ghazipur border of Uttar Pradesh to support Hindu pilgrims during the Kanwar Yatra. This annual pilgrimage involves devotees carrying Ganga water from Haridwar to their local Shiva temples. The committee, started by Bilal’s father Sagir Ansari 20 years ago, offers various services to pilgrims, including a place to rest, food, and medical aid. 

The camp provides essential facilities such as mobile charging, fans, coolers, bedding, and washing services. It’s located on National Highway 24 in East Delhi, offering a crucial stopping point for pilgrims on their long journey. The Aman Committee, comprising 50 members from different religions, raises funds to support this initiative, promoting social harmony and brotherhood. 

Interfaith Cooperation and Community Support 

The Aman Committee’s efforts have been well-received by pilgrims and local authorities. Delhi Police has recognised their work, presenting them with awards three times. The committee works closely with the Ghazipur police station to ensure smooth operations. 

 Pilgrims have expressed gratitude for the support they receive. Sundar Lal, travelling from Haridwar to Palwal, Haryana, praised the camp’s facilities, including comfortable beds and meals. Raj, from Faridabad, noted that Muslims were helping pilgrims at various points along the route, offering water and sherbet. 

Boosting Hindu-Muslim Brotherhood 

The initiative has been praised for its role in strengthening Hindu-Muslim relations. Yug, a resident of Sarita Vihar, expressed happiness at seeing the Muslim community’s support, stating that it would boost Hindu-Muslim brotherhood. 

 The committee’s leadership reflects its inclusive nature, with Bilal Ansari as head, Sunil Chauhan as vice president, and K.P. Singh as general secretary. This interfaith cooperation demonstrates how community-led initiatives can bridge religious divides and promote mutual understanding and respect.
