A Father’s Unyielding Courage: The Legacy of DySP Humayun Bhat

In the heart of Srinagar’s district police lines, a profoundly moving scene unfolded that will forever be etched in the annals of Indian police history. Retired IGP Ghulam Hassan Bhat, the father of the martyred officer DySP Humayun Bhat, displayed remarkable courage, fortitude, and composure, setting an extraordinary example.

Ghulam Hassan Bhat, though appearing frail, stood resolute beside his son’s lifeless body, draped in the Tricolour. Like a piece of unwavering steel, Bhat, escorted by Javaid Mujtaba Gilani, ADGP, laid a wreath at his son’s coffin.

In a sad gathering, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Secretary Arun Mehta, DGP Dilbag Singh, and other senior Jammu and Kashmir Police officers paid their last respects to the fallen officer.

Humayun Bhat, a young and promising officer from the 2018 JKPS batch, celebrated his marriage just a year ago. However, his untimely demise has left behind a grieving young wife and a 26-day-old child, a tragedy that knows no parallel.

Every police officer in the country must bow their head in reverence to Ghulam Hassan Bhat, just as proud sons and daughters of a brave and resolute police officer would.

The Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) in the Kokarnag area of Anantnag district, DySP Humayun Bhat, joined a fearless team of security officers to investigate the presence of terrorists in the Gadole mountain area.

In the face of adversity, they successfully evacuated the injured officers. Upon learning of their injuries, DGP Dilbag Singh and ADGP Vijay Kumar rushed to the scene, overseeing the operation.

DySP Humayun Bhat’s indomitable spirit, coupled with the unwavering support of his father, Ghulam Hassan Bhat, Colonel Manpreet Singh, and Major Aashish Dhonchak, stands as a poignant reminder of the incredible sacrifices made by our police force in safeguarding the nation. Their courage and dedication will forever remain embedded in our nation’s memory.
