Early Life and Love for Football: The Beginning of Muzamil Mahmood Dar’s Journey

Muzamil Mahmood Dar was born on 14th November 1982 in a small and remote hamlet, Gogji Gund of Ganderbal district, Kashmir. Football was his unconditional love, and he would spend most of his time on the ground playing soccer. His family, who supported him since childhood, were very proud of him.

The establishment of the Football Club Ganderbal Academy and its impact on the community

Muzamil was an extraordinarily humble and great personality with a mission to promote sports, especially football, in Kashmir, sadly second on the list of drug-abusive states in India. Drug addiction is a significant issue in the state, and the youth must be encouraged to participate in physical activities and team sports like football. This was the time when Muzamil Mahmood decided to introduce football to the residents of his district professionally.

Muzamil Mahmood’s professional background and achievements in coaching

He established the Football Club Ganderbal Academy, which no one sponsored. He did everything independently, and many lads got to learn and play for the academy. Not only did they know football, but they also received moral education. There were boys from his academy who represented Kashmir nationally and internationally.

He needed a guide or mentor, and he would practice football alone early in the morning in the nearest field due to the lack of playgrounds and interest in soccer among the people from his area. He would cover a long distance to reach the green and often return home late.

The dream of becoming a professional footballer motivated him, and he successfully achieved his goal. He got fame but remained humble and determined as ever. In 2007, he decided to become a guide and mentor and train youngsters, so they don’t face the difficulties he faced.

Muzamil Mahmood’s lasting influence and legacy in the community.

He was awarded the AFC B license, the second-highest level of coaching in the Asian continent. Besides football, Muzamil Mahmood was a government employee and worked as an English teacher. The students praised him for his teaching skills, and he got better results from his students than any other teacher.
