Raindrops Initiative Assam Provides Free Food to Needy Patients and Their Attendants at GMCH During Lockdown

Raindrops Initiative Assam has been distributing free food to patients and their attendants at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) premises since the lockdown in 2020. Due to the closure of restaurants and eateries, many relatives attending patients at GMCH had difficulty finding food.

The organization started distributing free food and continued the initiative even after the lockdown. Many poor people at GMCH who could not afford medicines and food also approached the organization for help. The initiative has become a source of iftar and seheri for Muslims and delicious food for people from other faiths.

In an interview, Abid Azad, an office bearer of Raindrops Initiative Assam, explained the motivation behind the initiative.
