Remembering Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam: A Tribute by PM Modi

On October 15, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid a touching tribute to former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam on his birth anniversary. PM Modi called Dr. Kalam an inspiring figure for all Indians. In a post on X, he expressed his respect for the renowned scientist and former President, saying that Dr. Kalam’s vision and ideas would help India achieve its goal of becoming a developed nation, or “Viksit Bharat.”

Celebrating Dr. Kalam’s Life

In his post, PM Modi shared a video that included various photos of himself with Dr. Kalam. He praised Dr. Kalam for his ability to face challenges with courage. The Prime Minister pointed out that Dr. Kalam had a natural way of being both simple and approachable. He explained that there are two kinds of people: those who seek opportunities and those who look for challenges. Dr. Kalam was someone who always looked for challenges, which was a key part of his character.

PM Modi also highlighted Dr. Kalam’s remarkable achievements. He noted how special it is for someone to be called a “Rashtra Ratna” (Jewel of the Nation) before becoming the President of India. This honour shows just how extraordinary Dr. Kalam’s life and accomplishments were.

Teacher at Heart

Reflecting on a personal memory, PM Modi recalled a moment when someone asked Dr. Kalam how he wanted to be remembered. Dr. Kalam simply said, “I would like to be remembered as a teacher.” This answer showed his deep respect for educators and highlighted his strong beliefs and lifelong dedication to teaching. PM Modi emphasised that this response reflects the true spirit of Dr. Kalam, who inspired many through his work and teachings.

In remembering Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, PM Modi reminded everyone of the values of simplicity, courage, and the importance of education, which continue to inspire people across India.
