Renowned Sculptor Arun Yogiraj Creates Miniature Ram Lalla Idol

Arun Yogiraj, a prominent sculptor known for his masterwork, the Ram Lalla idol for the Ayodhya temple, has presented yet another awe-inspiring creation—a more miniature replica of the god. After Yogiraj posted pictures of his little Ram Lalla monument on the social networking site X, the pictures quickly went viral.

An Act of Absolute Devotion

The artist Yogiraj described his creative process by saying, “After the selection of the main idol of Ram Lalla, I carved another small Ram Lalla statue in stone in Ayodhya.” Standing on a lotus as a five-year-old, this small statue of Ram Lalla is made from Krishna Shila, also called black schist, and is 51 inches tall.

Hailing from a family steeped in the history of sculpting, Yogiraj’s father and grandparents were famous artisans. In 2008, Yogiraj began a path that has brought him national renown despite having completed an MBA and having worked for a short time in the corporate sector.

A Storied Portfolio

Yogiraj has left his imprint with numerous outstanding sculptures and the Ram Lalla idol. Notably, he constructed the 30-foot statue of Subhas Chandra Bose, decorating the magnificent roof below the Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate. Two of his most famous works, a 21-foot-tall Hanuman statue in Chunchanakatte, Mysore District, and a 12-foot-tall Adi Shankaracharya monument in Kedarnath, have received extraordinary praise and awe.

Yogiraj’s commitment and attention to detail are also apparent in his instruments. He provided a peek at the specific tools used to carve the magnificent eyes of Ram Lalla, exhibiting a silver hammer combined with a golden chisel—a tribute to the precise artistry that breathes life into his sculptures.

Arun Yogiraj continues to weave his creative legacy, each piece is a monument to his passion, talent, and the everlasting beauty of Indian sculptural craftsmanship.
