Women Lead the Way: Top Ranks in Civil Services Examination 2022 Secured by Female Candidates

In a remarkable feat, it is worth noting that women have taken the lead in securing the top ranks of the Civil Services Examination 2022, administered by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The recently declared results have unveiled the exceptional performance of women, with an impressive 12 out of the top 20 ranks achieved by them. This noteworthy milestone vividly demonstrates the increasing empowerment and potential of women in the realm of public service.

Unveiling the Top Ranks:

Ishita Kishore, a 26-year-old graduate from Delhi University’s prestigious Sri Ram College of Commerce, emerged as the All India Rank (AIR) 1 holder. Hailing from Greater Noida, Ms. Kishore expressed her immense joy at achieving this feat. Interestingly, her success took time, as she faced initial setbacks in her first two attempts, failing to clear the preliminary round. However, Ms. Kishore credited her accomplishment to the unwavering support of her family. After working as an adviser at a multinational firm for two years, she realized her true passion lay in public service. Eager to contribute to the nation’s development, she eagerly looks forward to collaborating with her team.

Personal Journey and Preparation Strategy:

Garima Lohia, the second-ranked candidate with AIR 2, is a 24-year-old from Buxar, Bihar. She graduated from Delhi University’s Kirori Mal College. Ms. Lohia initially did not consider Civil Services as her career path, but the pandemic-induced circumstances convinced her otherwise. She embarked on her journey with determination and focus, successfully clearing the exam on her second attempt.

Uma Harathi, aged 28, from Telangana, secured third rank, while Smriti Mishra, a 24-year-old from Uttar Pradesh, achieved fourth. Their remarkable achievements contribute to the increasing representation of women in the Civil Services Examination.

Anoushka Sharma, 25, who completed her graduation from the City University of New York in 2015, also made it to the top 20 ranks. Returning to Indore to prepare for the examination, Ms. Sharma devoted 14 to 15 hours daily to her studies. Her aspiration to join the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) stems from her strong desire to contribute to India’s success story.

Importance of Effective Preparation:

When discussing her preparation strategy, Ms. Kishore emphasized the significance of selecting reliable sources of information. Amidst the vast sea of online resources, she advised aspiring candidates to rely on a single trusted website for current affairs. Furthermore, she diligently cultivated her writing skills through rigorous practice for the Mains examination. This was driven by her realization of the crucial role stamina plays in successfully navigating the demanding exam pattern.

Achievements and Statistics:

In addition, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has put forth a recommendation for the appointment of 933 candidates to esteemed services encompassing the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), as well as Central Services – Group A and Group B.

In regards to diversity, the accomplished group of candidates comprised 99 individuals from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), 263 from the Other Backward Classes (OBC), 154 from the Scheduled Caste (SC), 72 from the Scheduled Tribe (ST), and 345 from the General Category. Significantly, the UPSC emphasized the availability of 180 vacancies in the IAS, 38 in the IFS, 200 in the IPS, and a substantial 604 vacancies in the Central Services.

Conclusion:

Moreover, the remarkable success of women attaining the top ranks in the Civil Services Examination 2022 is a testament to their unwavering dedication, perseverance, and competence. These achievements not only shatter gender barriers but also serve as a profound inspiration for future generations to strive for excellence in public service. As we celebrate these outstanding accomplishments, it is essential that we foster an environment that encourages and supports more women in pursuing their aspirations and making significant contributions to the progress and development of our nation.
