Debajit’s Unique Passion For Collecting Coins & Notes From Dynasties

DNN24 correspondent Manjar Alam’s conversation with Debajit. Debajit said he had spent decades collecting coins and notes from various eras and civilizations. In the first part of his collection, he showcases coins from emperors, including the Ahom, Koch, Gupta, and Mughal dynasties. Through his collection, viewers can learn about the history of these coins and the dynasties that issued them.

History Of Coins From Different Dynasties

After gaining independence, the Indian government aimed to establish a unique national identity by introducing new coins and currency notes. Some of these coins and currencies are still in use today, while others are no longer in circulation but were issued for specific purposes. Despite this, they can still be found in the collection of coin and note enthusiasts, such as Debajit.

Currencies From The Freedom Movement & Foreign Countries

In the second part of his collection, Debajit focuses on the currencies issued during the freedom movement in India and from foreign countries. He has many notes from different countries, including some fancy notes that were issued for particular purposes and those from countries that might have yet to be well known.

Historical Significance

Debajit’s collection is truly a treasure trove of history, and every wall of his room is filled with boxes of coins and notes that hold historical significance. Although much of his collection has already been explored, many essential parts are yet to be discovered.

In the next part of the video, Debajit plans to showcase some of his other unique and exciting items, such as the world’s smallest matchbox, antique cameras, and an HMV record player. Each item holds its own amazing story and is significant in Debajit’s collection.
