Khalid Jahangir: Pride in Indian Identity Transcends Religion

Khalid Jahangir, a prominent Kashmiri political activist and author, takes immense pride in his Indian Muslim identity when travelling abroad. He finds solace in his Indian passport, which bears the inscription “Satyamev Jayate” (Truth Triumphs Everywhere), unlike passports from Islamic nations that often display symbols of aggression or religious affiliations.

According to Khalid Jahangir, the motto of “Satyamev Jayate” connects all Indians, regardless of their religious background, as it represents a shared belief in truth. He emphasizes that his Indian identity supersedes his religious identity, which he considers to be a personal matter.
