Ph.D. student establishes “Har Ghar Library” project to promote education in rural Kashmir

Sirajuddin Khan, a Ph.D. student and beneficiary of Pune’s Sarhad Foundation, has launched the “Har Ghar Library” project in Aragam, his native village in Kashmir. Supported by the National Book Trust of India and the Jammu and Kashmir government, the initiative aims to establish a collection of books in every household, enabling the villagers to share information, ideas, and solutions to common problems.

The project (Har Ghar Library) has already established libraries in 22 of the village’s 100 houses, aiming to promote education and unity among the rural population living near the Line of Control.
