Sufi Council Supports Waqf Act Amendments, Calls for Unity

The All India Sufi Sajjadanashin Council, a leading organization representing Sufis in India, has expressed strong support for the government’s proposed amendments to the Waqf Act. In a recent press conference, Syed Naseeruddin Chishti, chairman of the council, emphasised the urgent need for these changes. The council believes that these amendments will address long-standing issues and benefit the Muslim.

Chishti stated, “We strongly believe that the Government will present the Bill in favour of Muslims.” He urged the public to remain patient and avoid spreading misinformation, emphasising the importance of examining the bill’s provisions once it is presented in Parliament.

Promoting Informed Discussion and Understanding

The Sufi leader advocated for a thoughtful approach to the proposed amendments. He encouraged people to study the bill thoroughly before forming opinions or making demands. Chishti stressed the importance of participating in constructive dialogue rather than making baseless accusations.

“There is a need to participate in understanding the bill rather than falsely accusing anyone,” Chishti said. This approach promotes a more harmonious and informed public discourse, allowing for a better understanding of the amendments and their potential impact on the community.

Working Together for a Better Future

Chishti highlighted the need to address corruption within the Waqf board, expressing confidence that the government’s actions aim to improve conditions for Muslims. He cautioned against politicising the matter, emphasising that unity and cooperation are essential for progress.

The council has presented its demands to National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, who reportedly responded positively. This collaboration between the Sufi council and government officials demonstrates a commitment to working together for the betterment of the community.

By supporting these amendments and encouraging open, informed dialogue, the All India Sufi Sajjadanashin Council is taking a step towards promoting harmony and understanding within society. Their approach emphasises the importance of unity, patience, and cooperation in addressing important issues affecting the Muslim community in India.
