Talatal Ghar

Talatal Ghar is a historical palace located in the Indian state of Assam. It is a part of the Rang Ghar palace complex, built in the 18th century by the Ahom kings who ruled over the region. The Talatal Ghar palace is a two-storied structure used as the military base and residential quarters of the Ahom kings. It is a unique blend of traditional Ahom architecture and Mughal influences, with a mix of stone and brick masonry.

Talatal Ghar

One of the most striking features of the Talatal Ghar palace is its underground tunnels used as escape routes and for communication between the various parts of the palace complex. The fortress has seven levels, with four above ground and three below ground. The tunnels also served as a means of transportation during times of war, as they allowed the Ahom kings to move troops and supplies without being seen by the enemy. The land’s first floor included stables, constants, treasure rooms, and servants’ quarters.
