As of 1 July 2025, Technician grade-I Signal has an 18——to 33-year Age Limit, and Technician grade-III has an 18——to 36-year age limit. There is age relaxation, as specified in government directives.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Technician Grade-I (Signal):
    • Must have a B.Sc. degree in Physics, Electronics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Instrumentation.
    • OR, must have BE/B.Tech/3-Year Engineering Diploma in the above streams.
    • Age: 18-33 years as of 1 July 2025.
  • Technician Grade-III:
    • Must have passed Class 10th (Matriculation) and ITI certificate from NCVT/SCVT in related trades.
    • OR, 10+2 with Physics and Maths for S&T trades.
    • Age: 18-36 years as of 1 July 2025.

Note: Age relaxation is given for reserved categories as per government rules.

Selection Process

  1. Computer-Based Test (CBT): Objective-type online exam for both posts.
  2. Document Verification: Candidates who qualify for CBT will be called for document checking.
  3. Medical Examination: The final stage is to check the medical fitness of candidates.

The CBT will test your technical knowledge, general awareness, Reasoning, and mathematics. For each wrong answer, you will be marked 1/3 marks negatively.

The RRB Technician exam is conducted in two stages: CBT-1 and CBT-2.

  • CBT-1 (First Stage)

    • Total Marks: 75
    • Duration: 60 minutes
    • Negative Marking: 1/3 for every wrong answer
  • CBT-2 (Second Stage)
    • Divided into Part A and Part B
    • Part A: 100 Questions, 90 Minutes
    • Part B: 75 Questions (Relevant Trade), 60 Minutes
    • Total Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes

  • Mathematics: Number system, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio, Percentages, Mensuration, Time & Work, Interest, Profit & Loss, Algebra, Geometry, Statistics, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern.
  • General Intelligence & Reasoning: Analogies, Series, Coding-Decoding, Relationships, Syllogism, Data Interpretation, Classification, Directions, Arguments, Assumptions.
  • General Science: Physics, Chemistry, Life Sciences (up to 10th standard level).
  • General Awareness: Current Affairs, Science & Technology, Sports, Culture, Economics, Politics, Personalities.
  • Engineering/Trade Subjects: For Diploma/Degree holders, questions will be related to their engineering stream.
