Breaking the Fast: A Moment of Gratitude

As I sit on my ‘dastarkhwan’, ready to break my 17-hour roza, I offer gratitude to Allah for giving me the strength to endure hunger and thirst.

Fasting has taught my body to heal and rejuvenate. Before taking my first bite, I offer a prayer to express my obedience to God. Suddenly, my phone rings, and I answer, quickly taking a sip of water to quench my insatiable thirst. The caller seems to be in no hurry and has the luxury of time.
