Mourning the Heroes: Kashmir Unites Against Terrorism

Kashmir unites against terrorism, grieving its heroes—a powerful stand against violence and a tribute to courageous souls. The recent tragic incident, which saw the loss of Colonel Manpreet Singh, Commanding Officer of 19 Rashtriya Rifles, Major Aashish Dhonchak, and Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy. SP) Humayun Bhat, has elicited deep sorrow and anger across the Kashmir region.

Consequently, residents of Srinagar city and various towns mobilized, organizing protest marches to condemn what they believe to be Pakistan’s purported backing of terrorism in Kashmir.

The operation to apprehend suspected Pakistani terrorists in Kokernag, Anantnag, who have taken refuge in a dense jungle amidst challenging terrain, continues to unfold. Senior Jammu and Kashmir Police Officer Imtiyaz Hussain shared an image on X to illustrate the formidable obstacles faced by security forces in their pursuit of highly trained terrorists.

In his social media post, SSP Baramulla, Hussain remarked, “With terrorism almost entirely eradicated from the Kashmir valley, it’s in such challenging terrains that a few of these adversaries persist. Nevertheless, our brave officers in uniform remain resolute in tracking them down, whether they hide in forests, hills, or rat holes.”

Several locations, including Shopian, Kupwara, Kulgam, Srinagar, and Baramulla, organized marches and memorial services for the three fallen soldiers. In Kupwara, a prominent town in north Kashmir, many women participated in the marches, paying tribute to the Army officers and the Kashmir police officer.

Moreover, an X user created a video documenting Kashmir’s marches from Kupwara to Kulgam and Baramulla to Pulwama, uniting against terrorism. The region came together to pay homage to these fallen heroes, recognizing their unwavering dedication to the nation. In Kulgam, police officers joined residents in a candlelight march, creating a touching memorial for the martyrs. In Jammu and Rajouri, numerous schools prayed for the departed martyrs, underscoring the loss’s profound regional impact.
