3.77 Lakh Devotees Embark On Amarnath Yatra In Just 28 Days

Despite challenging weather, the Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage perseveres. On the 28th day, over 7,000 pilgrims received divine ‘darshan’ at the cave shrine. A fresh batch of 2,050 devotees embarked on this profound expedition from Jammu to the Valley, defying all odds.

Since its commencement on July 1, this year’s Amarnath Yatra has drawn more than 3.77 lakh souls seeking solace and connection. The Yatris’ pilgrimage is meticulously overseen, with an escorted convoy ensuring safe passage for those embarking on the transformative journey.

Among the pilgrims are 1,618 males, 357 females, 12 children, 54 Sadhus, and 9 Sadhvis, representing diverse devotion. Sadly, 36 pilgrims died during this year’s Yatra, highlighting its demanding nature.

The sacred Amarnath cave shrine at 3,888 meters above sea level attracts devotees from two routes. The Pahalgam route is a challenging 43 km uphill trek, while the Baltal route from north Kashmir spans 14 km uphill. The latter offers the unique opportunity for pilgrims to return to the base camp on the same day, post ‘darshan.’
