On Dhanteras, a Hindu festival that honours Lord Dhanavantari, the dargah of Sufi Saint Hazrat Nizamuddin in Delhi became a place of unity among different religions. Dhanteras marks the start of the five-day Diwali festival, which is celebrated with great joy across India. On this special day, the Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) organised a prayer program at the dargah, inviting people from various faiths to come together. The aim was to promote brotherhood and harmony in society.
Messages of Unity and Empowerment
Indresh Kumar, a leader of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and patron of MRM, addressed the gathering. He spoke about Kashmir, calling it “paradise on earth,” and expressed the desire to make all of India a paradise too. He highlighted India’s rich cultural diversity as a model of unity for the world. Quoting Prophet Muhammad, he reminded everyone that humanity is more important than any religion. Kumar also raised concerns about divisions in society and urged people to unite for positive change.
Call for Equality and Environmental Care
Kumar stressed the importance of ending casteism, untouchability, and discrimination, saying that true progress can only happen when everyone has equal rights. He called for goodwill and coexistence among all communities in India. Additionally, he expressed concern about rising pollution in Delhi and the surrounding areas. He urged everyone to celebrate festivals like Dhanteras and Diwali responsibly, using firecrackers in moderation to protect the environment.
Kumar also mentioned the need for reforms in Waqf properties, claiming that corruption exists in the Waqf Board and that many properties are illegally occupied. He encouraged the Muslim community to come together to safeguard and develop their properties. The event ended with people of all religions praying together, showcasing the spirit of brotherhood and cooperation in society.
