Matiur Rahman’s 12-year-long tradition of feeding the fasting community during Ramzan

For the past 12 years, Matiur Rahman has been upholding a tradition of kindness and compassion by feeding the fasting community during the holy month of Ramzan. Ramzan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is considered a holy month for Muslims worldwide. During this month, it’s traditional to abstain from food and drink from sunrise to sunset. It is a time for spiritual reflection, charity, and self-discipline. In Guwahati, Matiur Rahman has been feeding Iftar to hundreds of fasting people every day during the month of Ramzan for the last 12 years, and that too free of cost.

Matiur Rahman’s tradition of feeding the fasting community:

Matiur Rahman, a resident of Guwahati, has been providing free Iftar to the fasting community during Ramzan for the last 12 years. It all started when Matiur observed that many fasting people had nothing to break their fast. This moved him, and he decided to take matters into his own hands. He started by providing Iftar to a few people, but word soon spread, and his initiative gained popularity.

The Iftar feast:

Matiur Rahman’s Iftar feast is a community effort. During Ramzan, he and his team prepare various dishes daily, including biryani, chicken curry, mutton curry, vegetable pulao, chana masala, and fruit salad. The food is distributed to the fasting community at various locations in Guwahati. Matiur and his team ensure that the food is of good quality and hygienically prepared.

Feeding people experiencing poverty and people in need:

Apart from feeding the fasting community, Matiur Rahman provides food to people experiencing poverty and people in need. His team identifies people who need food and provides them with free meals. They also distribute food to orphanages and nursing homes. Matiur’s initiative has provided a lifeline to many struggling to make ends meet.

Funding the initiative:

Feeding hundreds of people every day during Ramzan is a challenging task. It requires a lot of resources, including funds, workforce, and infrastructure. Matiur Rahman’s initiative is entirely self-funded. He and his team raise funds from their pockets, family, and friends. They also receive donations from local businesses and well-wishers. Matiur’s initiative is an excellent example of how a community can support a noble cause.

Impact of the initiative:

Matiur Rahman’s initiative has had a significant impact on the community. It has brought together people from different backgrounds and faiths, promoting unity and brotherhood. The industry has also provided a platform for people to contribute to the community’s welfare. Matiur’s work has inspired many others to take up similar initiatives in their communities.

Conclusion:

Matiur Rahman’s 12-year-long tradition of feeding the fasting community during Ramzan is a shining example of selfless service and community spirit. His initiative has touched many people’s lives and provided a beacon of hope for those in need. It is a reminder that small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
