Anurag Kashyap’s Film ‘Kennedy’ Receives Rousing Response at Cannes 2023

Renowned filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has once again made a mark at the Cannes Film Festival with his latest offering, ‘Kennedy.’ The film garnered an enthusiastic response, reminiscent of Kashyap’s earlier acclaimed works such as ‘Raman Raghav 2.0′, ‘Ugly‘, ‘Bombay Talkies‘, and the two-part gangster saga ‘Gangs of Wasseypur,’ which previously graced the festival.

Standing Ovation for ‘Kennedy’:

‘Kennedy,’ a gripping police noir film, left a lasting impression on the audience at The Grand Lumiere Theatre during its midnight screening at 12:15 a.m. on Thursday (local time). The film captivated viewers with its story of an insomniac cop navigating various challenges in his search for redemption. Anurag Kashyap, along with his friend and frequent collaborator Vikramaditya Motwane, attended the screening, joined by the film’s talented cast, which included Rahul Bhatt, Sunny Leone, Shariq Patel, Ranjan Singh, Kabir Ahuja, Bhumika Tewari, Neeraj Joshi, and Ashima Awasthi.

Anurag Kashyap’s Gratitude:

Reflecting on the film’s premiere at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, Anurag Kashyap expressed his delight, stating, “It’s always special to showcase your film to the world at Cannes, and playing it at the Grand Theatre Lumiere is a moment of a lifetime. ‘Kennedy’ holds immense significance for me, as it is a deeply personal project. We poured our hearts and souls into making this film, and the 7-minute standing ovation from the audience fills me with gratitude. I am immensely grateful and excited at the same time.”

Sunny Leone’s Cannes Debut:

Sunny Leone, who made her Cannes debut with ‘Kennedy,’ shared her excitement about being part of such a prestigious event. She stated, “I am thrilled to have my Cannes debut with ‘Kennedy’ being screened here. It’s a dream that only a few actors get to live, and I take immense pride in this achievement. I can’t wait to witness the global audience’s reaction.”

Impressive Musical Composition:

The film’s captivating music is composed by Ashish Narula, with contributions from Aamir Aziz and Boyblanck. The evocative soundtrack adds depth to the film’s narrative, enhancing the cinematic experience.

Rahul Bhatt, one of the film’s stars, described ‘Kennedy’ as a labour of love. He emphasized the film’s gripping nature and expressed gratitude to Anurag Kashyap and the team for making this cinematic masterpiece a reality.
