ISRO Chairman Flags Off ‘Rameswaram Marathon’ on APJ Abdul Kalam’s Birth Anniversary

On the birth anniversary of the former President of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, the Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), S. Somnath, led the way by flagging off the ‘Rameswaram Marathon.’ This event took place in Rameswaram at 6:00 AM, under the guidance of District Collector P. Vishnushandran, and witnessed the enthusiastic participation of numerous young individuals.

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, an eminent aerospace scientist, left an indelible mark on India’s scientific landscape. He had the privilege of working with two of India’s major space research organizations, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and ISRO.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid his heartfelt tribute to the former President on what would have been his 92nd birthday. The Prime Minister celebrated Kalam’s extraordinary scientific talents and his endearing humility, qualities that endeared him to the nation.

Prime Minister Modi expressed deep respect for Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam’s birth anniversary, praising his humility and outstanding scientific contributions. His incomparable contribution to nation-building will always be remembered with reverence.”

On July 27, 2015, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, the “Missile Man of India,” passed away during a lecture in Shillong. His sudden demise due to a cardiac arrest left a void that is felt to this day.

Kalam’s legacy, a beacon for aspiring minds, inspires excellence in science, technology, and public service, marking profound milestones in India. The ‘Rameswaram Marathon’ pays homage to Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, promoting fitness and honoring his legacy in science and nation-building.
