Mehdi Hassan: An Inspiring Journey of a Rising Star from Assam

Mehdi Hassan, a star from Assam, hails from the picturesque hamlet of Gandharipara, which is in the Barpeta region, not far from North Athiabari.

Despite hailing from a humble background, this young athlete has achieved remarkable feats at a national level, bringing pride to his hometown.

A Father’s Dream: Developing Abilities Despite All Odds

A visionary CRPF soldier named Abul Kalam Azad hoped to mold his kid into a star athlete on a national and international level. Azad was steadfast in his encouragement of Mehdi’s desire to play sports, even though he had his own obligations to the country. Azad had the audacity to move his son Mehdi to Guwahati five years ago in search of opportunities for his athletic growth after seeing his kid’s early promise as a football prodigy. Amidst the obstacles of beginning afresh in a modest rented home, Azad’s drive remained steady as he took Mehdi to a coaching facility at the Sarusajai Sports Complex, setting the basis for his athletic path.

Triumphing Over Obstacles: A Guide to Success

There were many challenges on Mehdi Hassan’s path, which he overcame with the help of committed instructors and in the middle of a worldwide epidemic. Despite obstacles caused by the COVID-19 outbreak upsetting training plans, Mehdi’s tenacity and resilience stayed unshakable. Guided by his original instructor, Navajit Malakar, Mehdi waded through uncertainty, demonstrating great patience and persistence. Over time, Mehdi’s abilities were noticed by national selectors, thanks to smart interventions that allowed her to attend advanced training sessions in Kolkata and Bhopal. His excellent performance in the Fed Cup and the Asian Juniors gave evidence to his unshakable commitment and tireless pursuit of perfection.

Through the unflinching support of his family and mentors, Mehdi Hassan represents the victory of genius over hardship, motivating generations to seek their aspirations fiercely. As he continues to soar higher heights on the national and international scene, Mehdi’s journey serves as a monument to the tenacious spirit of Assam’s sports excellence.
