75th Republic Day Parade to Showcase Women Empowerment and International Camaraderie

The 75th Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path is making history by putting a spotlight on women. Major General Sumit Mehta shared that this year, there will be a special focus on women, including a group of women from the Army’s military police participating in the parade. It’s a significant moment celebrating the involvement of women in the festivities.

Women-Centric Themes:

Republic Day Parade: Focus on ‘Developed India’ and ‘Motherhood of Democracy,’ emphasizing progress and nurturing. The emphasis on these themes aims to underscore the vital role of women in the nation’s development and democratic fabric.

All-Women Tri-Services Contingent:

In a historic move, the parade will showcase an all-women tri-services contingent, including troops from the Army’s military police and participants from the other two services. This marks a significant step towards recognizing and celebrating the contribution of women in the defense forces.

Key Participants and Attractions:

The parade commander, Lt Gen Bhavnish Kumar, will lead the procession from Vijay Chowk to Kartavya Path. Notably, three living Param Vir Chakra awardees, including Captain Yogendra Yadav and Subedar Major Sanjay Kumar, will take part. The French contingent, with Indian and Nepali origin members, will march, accompanied by a flypast featuring a French refuel aircraft and two Rafale aircraft.

Aerial Display and Vehicles Showcase:

The Indian Air Force flypast, featuring 51 planes, will include fighters, helicopters, and transport aircraft, with 15 women participating. New-generation vehicles like Terrain Vehicles, Light Specialist Vehicles, and Special Mobility Vehicles will be showcased. The ALH Dhruv Rudra and LCH Prachand are set to participate in the flypast.

Diverse Cultural Elements:

The parade will include the traditional Aahvan, marked by the blowing of Shankhs (Conch shells), adding a cultural touch to the grand event.

International Chief Guest:

French President Emmanuel Macron will be the Chief Guest, marking the sixth time a French president has graced the Republic Day Parade. This reflects the strong diplomatic ties and camaraderie between India and France.
