Afruja Begum Overcomes Adversity to Shine in University of Guwahati Philosophy Department

Afruja Begum, a student of BH College, Barpeta, Assam, has achieved the top spot in the Philosophy Department at the University of Guwahati with an impressive 9.07 CGPA. Her success has drawn praise from Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma, who commends the talent of rural youth.

Hailing from the underdeveloped village of Bhandara Char in the Bangagaon district, Afruja faced numerous challenges attending college due to poor roads and flooding during the rainy season. Nonetheless, her determination led her to reside in the hostel despite its closure, thanks to the college authorities’ understanding.

Inspired by her parents, Afruja aspires to pursue a postgraduate degree, determined to break barriers in her pursuit of knowledge.
