Druk Zangri Khamar: The Traditional Dance Of Bhutan’s Highlands

Bhutan Live has unveiled the enigmatic sanctuary ‘Druk Zangri Khamar,’ nestled in Bhutan’s mountainous heart, known to only a few, rich in centuries-spanning history.

This sacred ground encapsulates profound connections and a shared heritage, where a group of devoted pilgrims embarked on an improbable journey akin to the blind turtle’s rare encounter with a perfectly fitting log. Drawn by the elusive allure of Druk Zangri Khamar, they ventured into the remote northeastern realms of Bhutan.

The Vajrayana community finds its abode amidst Bhutan’s mountains, breathing life into the teachings of the 11th-century Tibetan yogini and lama, Machig Labdrön. Rooted in history, this community’s origin dates back to 1952 when 30 Tibetan refugees sought refuge in Bhutan, preserving their heritage. Trulshik Rigdzin Lingpa, leader of the original 30, laid the cornerstone of this community guided by visions of Dakinis. The community flourished under the guidance of Lama Rigdzin Longyang Rinpoche, recognized as Trülshik Rigdzin Lingpa’s reincarnation.
