On September 28, India finds itself at a unique juncture where two significant religious observances, Eid Milad-un-Nabi and Ganesh Visarjan, converge, uniting the country’s vast Muslim and Hindu communities.
In an exemplary display of religious tolerance and harmony, the Seerat Committee in Pune made a thoughtful decision. They urged Muslims to shift their Eid Milad-un-Nabi celebrations to October 1, allowing their Hindu counterparts to partake in the Ganesh Visarjan festivities on September 28 without any overlap.
Maulana Ghulam Ahmad Khan Qadri, a prominent figure in the Seerat Committee, highlighted the significance of accommodating both festivals peacefully. Ganesh Utsav typically spans from September 19 to September 28, culminating in the grand immersion of Ganesha idols on September 28, coinciding with Eid Milad-un-Nabi. By postponing their procession to a later date, the Seerat Committee seeks to foster unity among Indians of diverse faiths.
