Usman Parvaiz: The Story of a Specially-Abled Player Who Won Silver at the 18th Floorball Championship

Nine-year-old Usman Parvaiz from Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir has become an inspiration and a symbol of hope for the entire country. Usman cannot speak or hear, but his dreams are incredibly high. The passion for victory in his eyes sets him apart. He never let his disability become an obstacle to his dreams; instead, he turned it into his strength.

Success at the National Level

At a young age, Usman has achieved something remarkable on the sports field, earning praise from all quarters. He won a silver medal with the Under-12 team at the 18th Floorball National Championship held in Andhra Pradesh. This victory is not just about a medal, but a triumph of hard work and self-confidence. In a sport that requires quick thinking, teamwork, and timely decision-making, Usman Parvaiz proved himself.

Usman Parvaiz’s coach, Tausif Ashraf Bhat, says, “Usman plays with great confidence on the field. He controls the ball well and scores goals at the right moment. Scoring goals in national-level matches is not easy, but Usman Parvaiz scored several crucial goals. Looking at his hard work, no one can say that he is in any way weak.”

The Coach’s Perspective on Usman Parvaiz’s Hard Work

Tausif Ashraf Bhat told DNN24 that initially, he faced many difficulties. Due to his speech impairment, training took time, but Usman is a very quick learner. The coach communicates with him through gestures and body movements, and he understands easily. His comprehension and concentration abilities are very strong.

“Usman Parvaiz is currently in the second grade and is a student of Future Pack Secondary School. Along with his studies, he practices daily at the sports club.” Even after training, he repeatedly practices the techniques he has learned at home. For him, the sport is not just a hobby, but a passion.

Usman’s success is largely due to the support of his family, coaches, and community. The district administration and the sports department also provided him with full support. The SSP, Deputy Commissioner, and several other officials helped him from time to time. Social workers and sports associations also gave him the opportunity to play at the national level.

Community and Team Support

His teammates have always supported Usman Parvaiz. They never made him feel different. The team considered him an equal player, and this trust kept him going. In sports, it’s not just individual strength, but also teamwork that is a major factor in victory. The coach says, “I like one habit of Usman Parvaiz: he understands everything just by looking. Sometimes I make mistakes, but Usman doesn’t. Usman is not only an excellent floorball player but also a great martial artist.”

The Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, also praised the entire team and especially Usman Parvaiz for their victory. This was a great honor for him. Usman has received several awards before this as well. This young boy from Pulwama is now an inspiration for all those children who feel left behind because of some disability. Usman Parvaiz has shown that if your determination is strong, even silence can become the loudest voice of success.
