Kaushambi:Birthplace of Lord Padma Prabhu

Kaushambi district in Uttar Pradesh holds great significance for followers of Jainism. It is known as the birthplace of Lord Padma Prabhu, the sixth Tirthankara of Jainism. This sacred place is not only important for its religious significance but also for its serene environment, lush greenery, and peaceful atmosphere. The Birthplace of Lord Padma Prabhu

In Kaushambi, you will find the Shri Kaushambi Ji Digambar Jain Temple, located just a kilometre away from the famous Gho Seetarama Bihar site. This temple is special because it is the birthplace of Lord Padma Prabhu. It is here that he was born and later performed his first spiritual practices. The temple is a significant pilgrimage site for Jains, attracting devotees from far and wide.

The temple complex is adorned with beautiful carvings and sculptures that reflect the rich heritage of Jain architecture. As you enter, you will be greeted by the sight of the Manastambha, a pillar symbolising the Jain faith. Inside the temple, you can also see ancient statues discovered during archaeological excavations, which add to the historical importance of the site.

Sacred Prabhas Giri Mountain

After his birth, Lord Padma Prabhu went to Prabhas Giri Mountain, located about 10 to 12 kilometres from Kaushambi. This mountain is a serene and beautiful place where he meditated and gained spiritual knowledge. The mountain is situated between the sacred rivers Ganga and Yamuna, making it a picturesque location for meditation and reflection.

Prabhas Girir is not just a spiritual site; it also hosts a grand fair during Makar Sankranti, attracting around five lakh visitors. This vibrant event showcases the cultural richness of the region and offers a glimpse into the local traditions. The mountain is a perfect spot for those seeking peace and a deeper connection with nature.

Marvellous White Marble Temple

In Kaushambi, you will also find a stunning white marble temple dedicated to Lord Padma Prabhu. This temple is renowned for its exquisite craftsmanship, drawing both domestic and international tourists. What makes this temple unique is that it was constructed without using any iron in its entire structure. The construction took nearly three years to complete, showcasing the dedication and skill of the artisans involved.

Inside the temple, you will find a mesmerising golden statue of Lord Padma Prabhu, along with statues of the twenty-four Tirthankaras. The temple stands 25 feet tall and is 60 feet above the ground, making it an impressive sight. Every corner of the temple is beautifully carved, reflecting the artistic excellence of Jain architecture.
