Abir Asad: A Remarkable Success Story

Abir Asad, the daughter of a Muslim cleric, has made headlines by passing the Indian Civil Services Examination (UPSC) on her first try, without any coaching. Her name appeared on the supplementary list of successful candidates released by UPSC for 2023. Abir’s success is inspiring, especially considering the limited resources available to her family. She is now a role model for many young people in India.

Academic Excellence

Abir has always excelled in her studies. She scored an impressive 92.8% in her 10th grade and 97.5% in her 12th grade. She graduated with distinction in Economics from Hansraj College, Delhi University. Recently, she ranked 35th among 120 candidates in the reserved category on the UPSC’s final list. The UPSC announced that 1,016 candidates passed the Civil Services Examination, which is a significant achievement given the competitive nature of the exam.

Hard Work and Support

Abir studied diligently for a year, dedicating eight to nine hours a day to her studies, and even more as the exam approached. She credits her parents for instilling the values of hard work and education in her. Abir believes that if girls are given the chance to learn and are encouraged, they can achieve great things. She urges Muslim youth to focus on their studies instead of wasting time. Abir’s father, Maulana Muhammad Asad Al-Qasimi Al-Azmi, supported her dreams and allowed her the freedom to pursue her education.

Abir will soon begin her training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Dehradun. She has chosen the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) as her first preference, followed by the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) and the Indian Railway Management Service. Abir’s story shows that with determination and support, anyone can achieve their dreams.
