Contrasting Views on Religious Fasting in India

Religious fasting is a common practice in India among different communities, including Hindus, Muslims, and Christians. While Muslims are currently observing the month-long fast of Ramazan, Hindus are observing the 9-day festival of Navratri, and Christians are observing the 40-day fast of Lent.

However, the significance of fasting differs among these communities. For Muslims, fasting during Ramazan is a fundamental religious duty, while for Hindus and Christians, it is a personal choice. Although all three communities may be fasting, the reasons and importance behind it vary.
