Ajit Doval on Conflict Resolution

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval emphasized the need for conflict resolution today. He stated, “Introspection by states and societies has always been important.” His comments were made during the release of the Hindi version of Ahmet T. Kuru’s book, “Islam, Authoritarianism: Underdevelopment- A Global and Historical Comparison,” published by the Khusro Foundation. During the New Delhi World Book Fair Doval delivered remarks about the current religious vs. state conflict.

Ajit Doval : Balancing Religion and State

During his public address to a big crowd Ajit Doval maintained that citizens must maintain equal devotion to their faith and their government. The speaker emphasized that one must prevent mental imprisonment while promoting internal examination. Reflection plays a critical role according to him because the absence of self-evaluation results in wasted time and lost direction. Doval clarified that Islam does not have a one-of-a-kind connection between state authority and religious systems. Histories written during the Abbasid period clearly defined the roles which the government and religious institutions fulfilled. Religious-state conflicts will continue to exist yet he emphasized obtaining compromises for both entities.

Ajit Doval : Free Flow of Thoughts

According to Ajit Doval these conflicts remain unavoidable because different belief systems work in direct competition with each other. According to his view ideologies will fall into decline when they avoid competition. Preventing the growth of conflicts requires both open discussion platforms and unrestricted flow of ideas according to Doval. According to him, creative thinking prevented past generations from facing stagnation. According to Doval history shows that the clergy resisted the printing press due to their fear it would misinterpret Islam.

According to Dr. Hafizur Rahman as the convenor of the Khusro Foundation their mission centers on fighting wrong beliefs about Islam using literature. The organization works towards publishing children-focused books to help promote comprehension.
