ISRO’s Successful Moon Landing Boosts Momentum for Upcoming Sun and Space Missions

The triumphant moon landing on Wednesday has injected fresh energy into the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), propelling them toward an upcoming mission to explore the Sun. India achieved a successful moon landing as its lunar lander touched down near the moon’s South Pole on Wednesday evening.

ISRO Chairman S. Somanath announced the upcoming launch of the Aditya-L1 satellite for the Sun mission, scheduled for the first week of September. The coronagraph satellite will voyage 1.5 million km in around 120 days, reaching to explore the depths of the solar atmosphere.

The Aditya-L1 spacecraft, named after the Sun God, will serve as India’s inaugural space-based observatory exclusively dedicated to studying the Sun. It will be launched from India’s spaceport in Sriharikota and placed in a halo orbit around the Sun-Earth system’s first Lagrange point, L1. This strategic positioning will allow uninterrupted solar observations without the interference of eclipses.

ISRO’s schedule highlights vital Gaganyaan abort mission demo, pivotal to India’s human spaceflight, set for late September or early October.

Furthermore, ISRO plans to deploy the INSAT 3DS satellite using its GSLV rocket this year. ISRO plans to launch Anwesha and XPoSAT satellites, specialized for studying intense X-ray sources in demanding astronomical conditions.

The launch of the Radar Imaging Satellite, RISAT-1B, aboard the PSLV rocket is on the agenda for 2023. Additionally, ISRO has plans to deploy two IDRSS (Indian Data Relay Satellite System) satellites.

ISRO prioritizes testing LVM3 rocket systems for the crucial inaugural human space mission alongside its other ambitious endeavors.

ISRO plans Gaganyaan abort mission demo, vital for India’s human spaceflight, aiming for completion by late September or early October.
