Prime Minister Narendra Modi Discusses India’s G20 Presidency Achievements and Global Vision

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently engaged in a dialogue with PTI’s Editor-in-Chief, Vijay Joshi, and senior editors, offering insights into India’s remarkable tenure as the G20 Presidency, its evolving role in the global landscape, and the future of international cooperation.

Below are key excerpts from the interview:

Reflecting on India’s stewardship of the G-20, Prime Minister Modi underscored the historical context in which this influential group of nations was formed. Originating at the close of the previous century, the G-20 was conceived as a forum for major economies to address economic crises jointly. Its prominence escalated during the global financial turmoil of the early 21st century.

India’s pandemic response showcased clear strategy, tech-driven aid, vaccine development, and the world’s largest vaccination campaign. India’s sharing of medicines and vaccines with nearly 150 countries garnered global appreciation.

PM Modi noted India’s G-20 Presidency paralleled global acceptance of its vision. Over 100,000 delegates saw India’s diversity, democracy, and development.

India’s G-20 Presidency yielded vital outcomes: global shift toward human-centric approach, Global South inclusion, and third-world confidence in global issues.

PM Modi stressed cooperation between developed and developing nations for a more inclusive global order. He emphasized that, post-COVID, influence is shifting from GDP-centric to human-centric perspectives, altering the parameters of impact.

In conclusion, India’s G-20 Presidency has left an indelible mark on global cooperation, championing a human-centric approach, fostering inclusivity, and promoting a more equitable world order, paving the way for a future where every voice matters in international fora.
