Saudi Arabia, undergoing transformative reforms to align with the rapidly changing world, is poised to embark on an ambitious project: providing the Islamic world with a comprehensive collection of the most authentic and verifiable Hadith, the sayings and actions of Prophet Muhammad, the founder of Islam.
Saudi Arabia Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has ordered this Hadith documentation initiative, aiming to prevent terrorists and extremists from misusing the plethora of Hadith currently in circulation. The project’s outcome holds immense significance for the Islamic world, potentially challenging prevailing interpretations used to justify extreme measures such as capital punishment for blasphemy.
In an interview with The Atlantic, MBS previously asserted that the misapplication of Hadith had become a primary cause of division between extremist and peaceful factions within the Muslim community.
