CBSE Class 12th Result 2025: Key Highlights

This year, CBSE conducted the Class 12th board exams across India from 15 February to 4 April 2025. Around 17 lakh students registered, and 16.92 lakh appeared for the exams. Out of these, 14.96 lakh students passed, making the overall pass percentage 88.39%. This is a slight improvement compared to last year’s 87.98%

Girls performed better than boys, with a pass percentage of 91.64%, while boys had a pass percentage of 85.70%. This shows that girls have again outshone boys by a good margin.

CBSE has also introduced a new Relative Grading system this year. Instead of fixed mark ranges, grades are given by comparing each student’s performance with their peers in the same subject. This is to reduce stress and unhealthy competition among students.

How Much Did Students Score?

  • Total students appeared: 16,92,794
  • Total students passed: 14,96,307
  • Overall pass percentage: 88.39%

  • Boys’ pass percentage: 85.70%

To pass, students need at least 33% marks in both theory and practical exams. CBSE may also give grace marks to students who are close to the passing mark.
