Set against the picturesque ghats of Varanasi, the seventh edition of the Mahindra Kabira Festival 2023 is poised to captivate audiences from December 15-17. The festivities begin with an enchanting evening performance by the Singapore-based Hindustani classical vocalist Sveta Kilpady. Known for her soulful renditions, Kilpady will weave together Kabir’s dohas in a blend of popular and contemporary compositions, revealing the timeless essence of Kabir’s poetry.

This year’s festival boasts a diverse lineup, featuring Sandeep Singh, a traditional Raagi and Sikh devotional singer, showcasing the unique Taus, a bowed string instrument from North India: Bhuvnesh Komkali, grandson of the legendary Pt. Kumar Gandharva pays tribute to the master during his centenary year, while Purnesh Bhagwat, a young Hindustani classical vocalist, and the duo Kartikeya and Makrand interpret Kabir through their instrumental prowess on flute and percussion.

The afternoon sessions promise intellectual engagement, with scholars like Purushottam Agrawal and Dr. Linda Hess engaging in poetic conversations about Kabir’s timeless verses.
