India Responded with Measured, Non-Escalatory and Restrained Action: NSA Ajit Doval

On May 7, 2025, India executed Operation Sindoor, a careful military action. This operation was precisely aimed at dismantling terrorist camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). A total of nine sites used explicitly by terrorist elements were targeted. These attacks were carried out swiftly, within a half-hour window, between 1:00 am and 1:30 am. After the operation, National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, KC spoke with many important security officials from other countries.

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval held discussions with his counterparts from several countries. These included the US National Security Advisor and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, UK National Security Advisor Jonathan Powell, Saudi National Security Advisor Musaid Al Aiban, UAE National Security Advisor H.H. Sheikh Tahnoon, UAE NSC Secretary General Ali Al Shamsi, and Japan National Security Advisor Masataka Okano. Contact was also established with Russian National Security Advisor Sergei Shoigu, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PRC Wang Yi, and Diplomatic Adviser to French President Emmanuel Bonne. During these calls, NSA Ajit Doval explained India’s recent actions and their rationale.

NSA clarified that India’s action was “measured, non-escalatory and restrained.” This means India only did what was needed to fight terrorism and did not want to start a bigger conflict with Pakistan. NSA Doval told the other countries that India does not want to worsen the situation. However, he also said that India is ready to defend itself if Pakistan tries to attack back.

The NSA will continue to talk with these countries in the coming days to ensure they understand India’s position. This operation shows that India is taking strong steps against terrorism while being careful not to start a war. The government is also working hard to keep good relations with other countries by explaining its actions clearly.
