Sangram Singh Makes History in MMA

Indian wrestler Sangram Singh has made a significant impact in the world of mixed martial arts (MMA) by winning his first fight at the Gama International Fighting Championship. Sangram, who is a Commonwealth Heavyweight wrestling champion, achieved this remarkable victory in just one minute and thirty seconds. He faced Pakistani fighter Ali Raza Nasir, who is seventeen years younger than him. With this win, Sangram has become the first Indian male wrestler to triumph in an MMA fight, marking a historic moment for Indian sports.

Fastest Win in the 93 kg Category

Sangram’s victory is not only historic but also noteworthy because it is the fastest win ever recorded by an Indian fighter in the 93 kg division. Competing against eleven nations, Sangram showcased his exceptional grappling skills and strategic thinking. His background in traditional wrestling and his dedication to rigorous training played a crucial role in his success. This win highlights the potential of Indian athletes in the global MMA arena.

Inspiring Future Generations of Athletes

After his impressive win, Sangram expressed immense pride in bringing this victory home for India. He stated, “This victory is a step towards a better future for MMA in India. It goes beyond personal achievement.” He hopes that this recognition will encourage the Indian government to support mixed martial arts and inspire young people to pursue this sport. Sangram believes that his success will motivate many young athletes to discover their inner strength, strive for greatness, and overcome challenges in the world of MMA.

Sangram also acknowledged the vital support of his coaches. He said, “I can’t thank my Indian coach Bhupesh Kumar enough for his unwavering guidance. He has been with me every step of the way. I also owe a lot to David sir, my international coach, who helped me transition to mixed martial arts and sharpen my tactics. Their support has been invaluable in preparing me for this fight.”

Sangram Singh’s victory is a proud moment for India and a beacon of hope for aspiring MMA fighters across the country.
