In Srinagar, Yameen and Mohsin develop services for eco-friendly e-bikes

E-bike Services :

Five tourists from South India cycled 6 hours to University of Kashmir in central Srinagar. Marked the service’s official debut, which two local business owners launched due to the Srinagar Smart City Limited (SSCL) project. The trial of 50 e-bikes has been ongoing in Srinagar since December 9.

So far, environmentally friendly electric bikes are only available in a few Indian towns, with Srinagar on the way.

“The goal of providing the micro-mobility service is to protect the environment, create jobs, and build a sustainable business,” said Sheikh Yameen, Co-Founder and Managing Director of the venture Curve Electrics.
Sheikh Yameen and his companion Mohsin Bashir began this firm after Yameen earned his MBA in Finance and Marketing from the University of Kashmir this year. Mohsin is a management student in the United States.

Mohsin is expected to start working for the company as soon as he complete his education and returns home. Sheikh stated that they intend to develop and expand their offerings.

“Instead of looking for work in the corporate sector, I opted to pursue entrepreneurship,” Sheikh Yameen explained. He also received an excellent job offer. While many of his colleagues in the profession were getting jobs at other companies, he chose to start his endeavors to benefit society.
Sheikh stated. “I wanted to start a new venture… to be in Kashmir, assist in conserving the environment, and serve society.”.

According to Sheikh, the initiative aims to help the environment by lowering carbon emissions.

He claimed that adopting 200 bikes would save “at least 750 metric tons of CO2 in one year.”

During the peak of the winter season, the e-bikes were trialed for about two weeks from six docks out of the city’s already 11 starting points.
In collaboration with Srinagar Smart City Limited, the e-bike services will be fully introduced by the end of this month (SSCL). According to him, it has set a fee of 90 paise per minute, and the focus is on tourists, which will gradually migrate to local consumers.
“It has to become a mode of transport.” The e-bike, designed and built in the country, can travel 60 kilometers on a single charge. Each bike has GPS tracking and anti-tampering technology to ensure the safety of its batteries. After using the bike, the user can return it at any dock.
Nehru Park, Dalgate, the Botanical Garden, Kashmir University, Nishat, Habak, Elahi Bagh, Islamia College, Sannat Nagar Chowk, Bemina, and Lal Chowk are among the docks. Zubair Ahmad Bhat stated that 50 more e-bikes will be introduced by March and another 100 by August 2023, bringing the total to 200.
