Jammu and Kashmir Flourishes Four Years After Article 370 Repeal

Four years post the abrogation of Article 370, Jammu and Kashmir is basking in a new era of progress. The Union Territory has witnessed comprehensive development, a transcending economy, and infrastructure to elevate its residents’ overall quality of life.

Lt. Gov. Manoj Sinha highlights 54% growth in MSME exports and a 173% rise in importer-exporter registrations in FY 2021-22. Sinha attributed this success to a strategic focus on food processing, handicrafts, and organic products, stimulating economic expansion.

In Jammu and Kashmir, there is remarkable success across business, economy, education, culture, and sports. The region has managed to attract investments worth Rs 2,200 crore, creating 10,000 jobs annually. A remarkable 5,327 investment proposals amounting to Rs 66,000 crore underscore a transformative economic resurgence.

The New Industrial Policy’s extensive outlay of Rs 28,400 crore, spanning 15 years, is set to trigger investments of Rs 20,000 crore and create 450,000 jobs. The G-20 summit spotlighted Jammu and Kashmir‘s potential beyond its troubled history, shifting perceptions and attracting foreign investments.

Post-Article 370 repeal, the Union government has orchestrated an environment conducive to industry growth. Initiatives like the Jammu and Kashmir Global Investors’ Summit and a surge in private investments to Rs 38,000 crore have invigorated the region. Noteworthy projects spanning infrastructure, healthcare, education, and tourism have advanced, with foreign direct investment making its mark.

Key achievements include developmental projects worth Rs 10,000 crore and proposals totalling Rs 50,000 crore, poised to steer economic expansion. The road transport and highways ministry’s extensive works and developmental projects have significantly shaped Jammu and Kashmir’s growth. Initiatives like the Jal Jeevan Mission and Fit India further contribute to this progress.

Participation in panchayat and block development council elections reflects growing democratic fervour. Over 134,000 houses under the PM Awas Yojana and upcoming AIIMS hospitals signify a new chapter in industrial development, poised to create 450,000 jobs and elevate the region’s primary sector.

As Jammu and Kashmir thrive, its journey unveils a promising future marked by progress, inclusivity, and resilience.
