The enchanting overnight light showers bestowed a divine touch on New Delhi as it gears up to host one of the most spectacular global events—the G20 Summit. The 18th Summit of the world’s top 20 economies witnessed the gathering of more than 30 heads of state, high-ranking officials from the European Union, guest countries, and 14 leaders from international organizations such as the World Bank and IMF.
Prime Minister Modi, known for his penchant for scaling up events, set the stage for a vibrant celebration. His fellow Gujaratis have a reputation for turning any occasion into a festival, a tradition upheld during the Presidency.
The G-20 Presidency demonstrated India’s ambition and capabilities. It seamlessly blended elements of culture, tradition, and economic development into every facet of the G-20 agenda, showcasing India as a hub for business, tourism, cultural exchanges, and education.
PM Modi also broke tradition by hosting bilateral meetings with world leaders like US President Joe Biden and Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina at his official residence, 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, mirroring practices at the White House and 10 Downing Street.
This year’s G-20 Summit, led by India’s Presidency, centres on “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” – One Earth, One Family, One Future. Derived from the Maha Upanishad, the theme emphasizes the value and interconnectedness of all life forms on Earth and beyond.
World leaders arrived at Bharat Mandapam, launching the Summit with ‘One Earth,’ prioritizing climate action and global net-zero emissions. After lunch, the ‘One Family’ session commenced.
The Summit saw participation from leaders of various countries and organizations, including Nigeria, Argentina, Italy, the African Union, and more.
Traditional dances kicked off the event, warmly welcoming leaders, symbolizing India’s dedication to global unity and advancement.
