Islam’s core belief that all humans: A Brief Analysis

The Holy Quran’s message of tolerance, inclusivity, and coexistence resounds through its verses. It teaches a simple yet profound principle, “Love for humanity what you love for yourself.” This underscores Islam’s core belief that all humans, regardless of race, faith, class, or nationality, are equal before God.

The Quran asserts, “The best amongst you is whose character is the best,” reaffirming the essence of good character. Prophet Muhammad’s last sermon further solidifies this by stating, “there is no superiority of white over black and of Arabs over non-Arabs,” highlighting the equality of all humankind.

The Muslim Brotherhood, Wahabism, and organizations like Jamat-i-Islami set the stage for extremist perspectives, redefining Islam for their political ambitions. Leaders such as Ayman Zawahiri, Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman, and Islamic Jihad’s heads found inspiration in these twisted interpretations.

Muhammad Abd-al-Salam Faraj furthered the importance of jihad within radical Islam, emphasizing the need to confront apostate Muslim regimes before targeting the “far enemy.” This political thought grapples with reconciling divine sovereignty with democratic nation-states’ sovereignty.

Recent efforts have aimed to counter these radical interpretations. The decision to remove Maududi’s books by AMU and Hamdard University, following concerns about a ‘jihadi curriculum,’ is one such initiative. These institutions were accused of fostering teachings that contributed to violent attacks.

The Muslim Brotherhood and Wahabism have incited violence in the Middle East, with groups like ISIS emerging. Jamat e Islami’s involvement in the 1971 Bangladesh attack and targeting religious processions in Pakistan exemplifies the havoc wreaked by radical elements.

In today’s world, scholars like Dr. Israr Ahmed have played a negative role, fueling extremism and contributing to tragic incidents. The dissemination of hate and conspiracy theories has far-reaching consequences.

Recognizing that these extremist interpretations do not align with the Quran’s teachings, which advocate for a middle path and respect for diverse beliefs, is crucial.
