Dharoi Dam: North Gujarat’s Upcoming World-Class Tourism Hub

The Gujarat government has unveiled ambitious plans to transform the Dharoi Dam area into a world-class sustainable tourism destination. This major development project aims to create a central tourism hub linking prominent sites within a 90 km radius, including Vadnagar, Taranga, Ambaji, and Rani Ki Vav. The project, estimated to cost Rs 1100 crore, will be executed in three phases, promising to revolutionize tourism in North Gujarat.

Exciting Attractions and Facilities

The development plan includes a variety of attractions designed to appeal to diverse interests. An Adventure Water Sports Arena will cater to thrill-seekers, while a River Edge Development Leisure Show Infrastructure with an Amphitheatre will host cultural events. Nature enthusiasts can look forward to theme parks such as Panchatatva Park and Naad Brahm Upavan. Essential facilities like a Visitor Centre and Water Experience Park are also part of the plan, ensuring a comprehensive tourist experience.

Hasrat Jasmine, District Development Officer of Mehsana, emphasized the long-term vision: “We aim to develop North Gujarat into a major tourism circuit, with Dharoi as the central point. Surrounding pilgrimage sites will serve as peripheral points, establishing the area as a cultural centre and generating significant revenue.”

Economic Impact and Local Enthusiasm

The project is progressing rapidly, with 80% of land acquisition already complete. Authorities expect to reach the final stage within two years, considering a Public-Private partnership model to accelerate development. This initiative is generating excitement among tourists and locals alike.

As the Dharoi Dam area prepares for this transformative development, it promises not only to boost tourism in North Gujarat but also to create significant economic opportunities for local communities. The project is a testament to Gujarat’s commitment to sustainable tourism and regional development.
