Kashmiri Youth Ummar Jamal Is bringing Positive Change Through His Writings

Ummar Jamal, a law student at Kashmir University, is using his passion for writing to highlight social issues affecting youth in the region. Originally writing in Kashmiri, Ummar switched to English to reach a wider audience and draw attention to problems like drug and mobile addiction.

Growing up in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, Ummar Jamal‘s father inspired his love of poetry by encouraging him to read the works of famous Kashmiri poets. Ummar hopes to positively impact society by sharing his writing and raising awareness of these issues.
