Mir Sarwar Applauds Bollywood’s Homecoming to the Valley

Mir Sarwar, renowned for his cameo in the blockbuster “Bajrangi Baijaan” alongside Salman Khan, is excited about the strengthening ties between Kashmir and Bollywood. He anticipates a significant upsurge in the local film industry driven by this newfound synergy.

Sarwar, who currently graces the spotlight in the houseful hit “Gaddar-2” across India, envisions a day when Kashmir will boast its thriving film landscape. He passionately advocates for the exceptional talent harboured within the region, expressing hope that Kashmiri artists will shine given the right opportunities.

Recalling his experiences, Sarwar reminisces about the sporadic filming activity in the 90s, particularly after 1997 when movies like “Bajrangi Bhaijaan,” “Rockstar,” and “Fitoor” showcased the picturesque locales of Kashmir. He celebrates the recent shift in the film policy, which has revitalized film production in the region. He notes that Bollywood is once again turning its lens towards Kashmir, rekindling a connection that had been dormant for years.

Sarwar underscores the significance of film in promoting tourism and generating employment opportunities. He asserts that movies wield influence far beyond mere entertainment, shaping various facets of society. Sarwar passionately advocates for exploring diverse subjects on screen, letting the audience decide what resonates with them.

While acknowledging the scarcity of independent films, Sarwar proudly mentions his contributions, including the movie “Kashmir Daily” (2018) and a Kashmiri-language project, which garnered acclaim. As he aspires for more challenging roles, he draws inspiration from the versatility displayed by legendary actors like Sanjeev Kumar and Kamal Haasan.

Sarwar’s dedication to his craft is evident as he prepares for his lead role in “Jannati Lottery,” an upcoming film set in Kashmir. While he has come a long way, he remains humble, conscious of the arduous journey ahead. Mir Sarwar embodies the spirit of a Kashmiri artist poised to make a lasting impact on the cinematic landscape, uniting cultures and narratives through the powerful medium of film.
