Wali Rahmani: From Inspirational Speaker to Philanthropic Leader

At 17, Wali Rahmani captivated audiences with his multilingual proficiency and became a renowned public speaker. Now, at 25, he is a sought-after television commentator and the visionary founder of Ummed Academy, a residential school for orphans in Kolkata. In an interview with Kaleem Azeem, Rahmani shares insights into his life, dreams, and challenges.

Early Life and Education:

Born in Kolkata in 1998, Rahmani’s childhood was shaped by the hard work of his father, Shafiuddin Sahab, who transformed his circumstances from poverty to prosperity. Despite financial challenges in his early years, Rahmani received education at prestigious institutions, including St. James School and Genesis Global School. He recently completed his law degree from Jamia Hamdard University.

Transition from Political Aspirations to Philanthropy:

Originally aspiring to be a political leader, Rahmani actively participated in televised debates, expressing his desire to become the Prime Minister by 2040. However, as his perspective evolved, he realized that authentic leadership lies in selfless service and continuous improvement. He now focuses on excelling in his work and contributing significantly to society.

Facing Criticism and Overcoming Challenges:

Despite Rahmani’s success in raising funds for Ummed Academy, he acknowledges facing criticism and trolling on social media. Reflecting on this, he shares a valuable lesson learned about depression — the importance of staying focused on one’s work irrespective of applause or criticism.

Ummed Academy’s Rapid Success:

Rahmani’s dedication to uplifting the lives of poor Muslim children materialized at Ummed Academy. With a waiting list 1500, he launched a social media campaign, appealing for a modest donation of Rs 100 from each person. In just six days, he raised an impressive Rs 6 crore, demonstrating the power of collective generosity and social media outreach.

Conclusion:

Wali Rahmani’s journey from a charismatic speaker to a compassionate leader underscores the transformative impact one individual can have on society. Through Ummed Academy, he addresses the immediate needs of orphans and inspires others to contribute to a brighter future for underprivileged children.
