Young Hockey Player from Srinagar Dreams of International Glory

Inayat, a 25-year-old from Srinagar, wakes up before dawn every morning to practice hockey on the newly laid astroturf at the Polo grounds. She is among the thousands of boys and girls in Jammu and Kashmir who have taken up the sport, hoping to bring glory to India on the international stage.

With the development of new facilities, more local players are joining the Jammu and Kashmir team, which players from outside the valley previously dominated.

Inayat has already played for her state in national competitions and dreams of representing India internationally.
