Massive ‘Tiranga’ Rally in Srinagar Marks Independence Day Celebrations

A big ‘Tiranga’ (tricolour) rally was held in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, on Monday before Independence Day. About 10,000 people took part in this rally, which was led by Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha. The march began at the Botanical Garden near Dal Lake and went to the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC). After reaching SKICC, people walked back to the Botanical Garden.

  • Celebrations Continue with Cultural Events
  • After the rally, there will be more events at the Botanical Garden. These include:
  • – A canvas where people can sign their names
  • – A cultural program with patriotic songs
  • – Other events to celebrate India’s independence

These activities are meant to increase people’s love for the country and unite them.

Changes in Jammu and Kashmir Since 2019

On August 5, 2019, the Indian Parliament removed Article 370, which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir. This change fully joined J&K with the rest of India. After this, the government made it compulsory for all government buildings, schools, colleges, and universities in J&K to hoist the national flag on August 15. This was done to show India’s unity from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.

  • The J&K Reorganisation Act 2019 brought many positive changes to the region. It removed old laws that were unfair, such as:
  • – Daughters not getting ancestral property if they married someone from outside J&K
  • – People from outside J&K not being allowed to own land or get jobs in the region

These changes have made life better for many people in Jammu and Kashmir. The ‘Tiranga’ rally and other Independence Day celebrations show how the region is now more closely connected to the rest of India.
