Dr. Shahana AK Offers Piles Treatment for Just Five Rupees

Anorectal diseases can cause both pain and shame for many people. While allopathic treatments are available, they can be expensive and may not prevent the problem from coming back. Recently, a Malayalam newspaper featured a headline that caught attention: “Piles free for five rupees.” This claim was made by an Ayurveda practitioner, Dr. Shahana A. K., at the Ksharasootra clinic in the Government Ayurveda hospital in Chelakkara, Thrissur district.

The Ksharasootra Method

Dr. Shahana has been treating patients with anorectal issues like fistula, hemorrhoids, anal fissures, and rectal prolapse using an ancient method called Ksharasootra. This technique involves inserting a medicated thread into the affected area. The treatment is quick, and patients do not need to stay in the hospital. The thread is replaced with fresh ones several times until the patient is healed. Ksharasootra is simple, non-invasive, and cost-effective, with no side effects. Unlike surgery, it also has a low chance of recurrence.

Spreading the Word

Dr. Shahana has been practicing this Ayurvedic para-surgical method for decades, and her reputation has grown through word of mouth. Many patients come to her after hearing success stories from others who have been treated. She emphasizes the importance of spreading awareness about Ksharasootra to help people avoid unqualified practitioners who may harm them and charge high fees.

After completing her BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery), Dr. Shahana pursued a master’s degree in surgery, specializing in Shalya tantra. She believes in using her education to help as many people as possible. The world of anorectal diseases is often filled with silence and shame, especially for women who may find it even harder to discuss these issues with doctors. Dr. Shahana hopes to change this by providing effective and affordable treatment options.
