Rafat Akhtar, the Maestro of ‘Lady Shayari’

In the enchanting realm of poets, stumbling upon a ‘lady Shayari’ is an extraordinary encounter. Amidst the myriad talents veiled behind scenic curtains, Rafat Akhtar, fondly known as ‘Rafat,’ stands out. This Kolkata native, hailing from the City of Joy, possesses a unique sensitivity that transcends into her captivating Shayaris.

Childhood Whispers: Nurturing the Seed of Artistry

From an early age, Rafat exhibited a profound sensitivity, capturing philosophical nuances and embracing the vibrant essence of nature. Though these poetic inklings simmered within her, they only found expression later in life.

The Pen as a Confidante: Rafat’s Writing Odyssey

In a candid conversation with Awaz-the Voice, Rafat unveiled her journey, confessing her love for Urdu storybooks during her formative years. Despite the constant flow of vivid words in her mind, she refrained from putting pen to paper until later. It was the cherished diary where she first started capturing her thoughts, finding solace in writing.

The Inaugural Verse: Alfaaz Rooh Hoti Hai

Taking tentative steps, Rafat penned her first Shayari, “Alfaaz rooh hoti hai Jismo me chupi har jazbo’n ki rooh, har aawaz ki rooh.” Sharing this creation with her family marked a turning point. Their enthusiastic reception fueled her confidence, propelling her onto a higher poetic trajectory. In 2018, she witnessed her first poem published on a writing app.

Taajira Triumph: Leading the Mushaira in 2022

A pivotal moment in Rafat’s literary journey occurred when Rukshi Kadiri Elias, the administrator of Taajira – The Businesswoman Group, entrusted her with conducting the Mushaira in 2022.

Sensitive Verses: Rafat’s Poetic Narratives

Rafat’s poetry reflects a profound sensitivity to various facets of life. Her renowned poem, “Ae nabz e wujood, tujhe shikwa na jaane magar kis baat ka hai,” is a testament to her poetic prowess.

Resonating Against Injustice: “Aurat Hona Bhi Kamal Hai”

Reacting vehemently against injustice, Rafat penned a soul-stirring Shayari, “Aurat Hona Bhi Kamal Hai.” In 300 powerful words, she articulates the visceral impact of an atrocity inflicted upon a woman, conveying the raw emotions and resilience encapsulated in her verses.
