Maha kumbh Mela: A Global Gathering in Prayagraj

The Maha kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, has captured global attention, drawing millions from around the world to the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mystical Saraswati. This grand event occurs every 12 years, coinciding with specific planetary positions. The Mela has become the most searched term online in many Islamic countries, including Pakistan, UAE, and Qatar, and has been trending on social media for several days.

Impressions from Abroad

Sally Al Azab, a well-known blogger from Abu Dhabi, shared her excitement about attending this massive religious and cultural gathering. As a Muslim woman, she described the Maha kumbh as an “amazing experience.” She traveled from the Middle East specifically to witness the event, stating, “The world’s largest religious gathering is organized beautifully, with plenty of police for security.” She praised the well-organized accommodations and the overall management by the government, saying, “I have never seen such a large gathering.”

Sally emphasized the importance of such coordinated events, suggesting, “Every country should have gatherings like this.” Throughout her time at the Mahakumbh, she felt completely safe and welcomed. She is part of a 21-member delegation from 10 different countries, invited by the Indian government’s Department of External Affairs. The delegation is staying in a tent city in Arail, built by the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation.

Celebrating Together
